About Yamagata
Yamagata Prefecture is located in the Tohoku Region, the northern part of Honshu, the main island of Japan.
It is 3 hours from Tokyo Station via Bullet Train (Tsubasa Shinkansen).
Yamagata prefecture is a beautiful escape from the hustle and bustle of metropolitan Japan.
Yamagata offers the unique combination of traditional Japanese cultural experience and stunning natural scenery.
Whatever the season, Yamagata has something magical for you to discover.
In spring, you will be surrounded by cherry blossoms and other flowers, blooming almost all at once. You can enjoy a wide variety of the delicious mountain vegetables too.
During summer, many festivals are held in Yamagata. "The Hanagasa Festival" or "Safflower Hat Festival" is especially famous and popular.
Autumn provides delicious fruits and mushrooms. The autumn leaves color the mountains with shining reds, yellows, and oranges.
In winter, it snows a lot and you can see the ink painting of nature. Yamagata is also famous for its excellent ski resorts, such as Zao.
Each season provides good food and beautiful scenery.
Furthermore, every municipality in Yamagata Prefecture has at least one hot spring resort.
